Who is EarSwitch®?
At EarSwitch, everything we do is led by one, unwavering vision: we are redesigning the way we interact with the world through in-ear experiences.
Our unique, in-ear biometric sensor and control technology has many applications. First, we developed an in-ear device to enable intuitive communication and environmental interaction for people with neurological disabilities. Then, we created a device that aims to deliver radically inclusive medical monitoring using multi-biometric insights gathered from the inner ear.
Now, we’re applying this technology to advance your gaming experience. Using the same sensor capabilities, the Gamer’s EarSwitch earbuds unlock new levels of in-game control.
How does the Gamer’s EarSwitch work?
The Gamer’s EarSwitch gives gamers additional hands-free, invisible, and completely configurable in game control. Here’s how it works:
1. In-ear sensor The Gamer’s EarSwitch earbud has an in-built EarClick™ sensor, switch output, and audio speaker to create a powerful new multi-functional control.
3. Customise control Users can preconfigure which action it will perform via an app. You can also calibrate sensitivity to your preference. Just like any interface device, you can change and control your actions within your game settings.
2. Earbud functionality The earbuds fit and work just like stereo audio earbuds – and they come in a selection of sizes, including XS, S, M and L. You even can get custom outers made based on an AI analysis of a photo of your ear.
4. Muscle contraction When you squeeze your inner ear muscle during gameplay, the EarClick™ sensor detects this movement, and the switch output instantly converts the signal into an in-game control.

Who is EarSwitch®?
We’ve developed a suite of in-ear biometric control and sensor technologies for an ever-increasing range of global applications. Our mission is to redesign the way we interact with the world through in-ear experiences, whether that's in healthcare, biometrics, gaming, or elsewhere. EarSwitch began because our founder, Dr Nick Gompertz, saw people with motor neurone disease (ALS) lose their ability to communicate throughout his time as a General Practitioner/ Primary Care Physician. It gave him an idea: to develop a non-intrusive, in-ear device that could help people with neurological impairments choose how to live their lives. That’s when he founded EarSwitch. While our initial technology was intended to be a communications device, Nick soon discovered that the ear opened up even more use cases which we continue to explore and develop. Advanced gaming control is one of those many use cases and the Gamer’s EarSwitch is our latest innovation.
Who is the Gamer’s EarSwitch for?
The Gamer’s EarSwitch is perfect for live streamers, gaming influencers, or gaming enthusiasts – on both Android and PC platforms. Maybe you’re a PC streamer who wants to make juggling chat, gameplay, recording, and scene switching a little easier. Who has funded the Gamer’s EarSwitch?
Innovate UK has provided funding for EarSwitch® to develop a commercial application version of the Gamer’s EarSwitch product. This release of earbuds is not a prototype; it represents Gen 1.0 of the Gamer’s EarSwitch.
How do you choose who gets the Gamer’s EarSwitch?
Recipients will be selected in order of registration. We only have a limited number being released this time around, so we will let you know via email whether you have been selected.
