This privacy policy explains how EarSwitch Ltd ("EarSwitch", "we", "us", "our") handles information in connection with the Gamers EarSwitch Android app (ES005) application ("Gamer’s EarSwitch", "the app").

2. What the app does

Gamer’s EarSwitch Android app (ES005) is an Android application that pairs with a USB connected earbud. The app detects an EarClick™, an intended movement of the user's ear muscle. When an EarClick™ is detected, the app dispatches a tap to the user's screen or sends an input event over Bluetooth HID to a paired device.
Gamer’s EarSwitch Android app (ES005) is intended as a hands-free input device for gamers, streamers, and anyone who finds it useful as an additional input.

3. Summary: what we collect

We do not collect or transmit any personal or sensitive user data.

All processing happens on your device:

Data from the USB connected earbud is analysed in memory and immediately discarded.
EarClick™ detection events trigger an on-device tap or an input event sent over Bluetooth to a target device you have selected and are not stored or sent anywhere other than sent to a Bluetooth connected target device selected by the user.
The app does not have a backend server. It does not have analytics. It does not transmit data to EarSwitch or to any third party.

4. Information the app accesses on your device

The app accesses the following on your device strictly to perform its function. Nothing in this list leaves your device.

Earbud (USB)

The app reads image data from the earbud sensors connected via OTG. Data is processed in memory to detect an EarClick™. Data is not stored, photographed, recorded, or transmitted.

Bluetooth

The app can act as a Bluetooth HID (Human Interface Device), sending key codes or mouse clicks to a paired device of your choice. The app accesses Bluetooth to scan for devices, connect to a device you select, and advertise itself as a keyboard or computer mouse.

Accessibility service

The app includes an Android Accessibility Service which dispatches taps to your screen when an EarClick™ is detected. The accessibility service:

Only dispatches taps to coordinates you have configured.
Does not read the content of your screen.
Does not read content from other apps.
Does not record, log, or transmit accessibility events.
Only acts when the user performs a real EarClick™, it does not act autonomously.
Acts only while you have enabled the accessibility service, and only when you trigger it with an EarClick™.

App preferences

The app stores user-configured preferences locally on your device using Android's standard SharedPreferences mechanism. This includes detection threshold settings and tap coordinate configurations. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted.

5. Information we do not collect

For absolute clarity, the app does not store, transmit, sell, or share any of the following:

Your name, email, phone number, or any personal identifier
Your location, precise or approximate
Camera images, videos, or any visual recordings
Audio recordings
Contents of your screen, messages, contacts, calendars, files, or browsing history
The identity of apps you use or content within them
Bluetooth device identifiers beyond what is needed for an active connection on your device
Analytics, crash reports, or device identifiers
Any other category of personal or sensitive user data

6. Permissions the app requests

The app requests the following permissions, and uses each only for the purposes described.

Bluetooth Connect / Advertise / Scan, to pair with and act as a keyboard and mouse for a Bluetooth device that you select.
USB host access, to communicate with the earbud sensor attached via OTG.
Camera access, to read frames from the connected earbud sensor. Foreground service permissions, to keep the earbud sensor and Bluetooth connections running while the app is in use, with a visible notification.
Post notifications, to display the foreground service notification while the app is active.
Accessibility service, to dispatch taps to your screen at your configured location, when an Ear-Click™ is detected while the accessibility service is enabled

You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in Android Settings. Disabling a permission will disable the related feature.

7. Third parties

The app does not currently integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services.

If this changes in the future, this policy will be updated before the third-party integration goes live, and the relevant data category will be reflected in the Google Play Data Safety section for the app.

8. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

9. Your rights under UK GDPR

Under UK GDPR you have rights including the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection regarding personal data we hold about you.

Because the app does not collect or transmit personal data, EarSwitch holds no personal data about app users. There is no data we can access, rectify, or delete on your behalf, all in-app data lives on your device and is controlled by you, including the right to clear it by uninstalling the app.

If you believe this is incorrect, or if you have any concern about how the app handles your information, contact developer@earswitch.co.uk and we will respond promptly. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example if we add new features that change what the app accesses. When we do:

For changes that meaningfully affect what data the app accesses or transmits, we will update the in-app disclosure shown when the relevant feature is used.
